1997 - The Year in Pictures

Ho, Ho, Ho. Just click on a picture to see a larger version. I make no claim of historical significance, photographic excellence, aesthetic quality, or redeeming social value. I'll probably tinker with this site right up until the Winter Quarter starts, so you might check back. If you think this is worthwhile, please email me and tell me so.

Greg and Smudge, the mouse. None of our current mice are this friendly. Smudge is no longer with us, but several of our current mice are his daughters.

Greg shoots! But does not score. The goalkeeper saved this one, but other shots reached the net. Alas, we aren't such good sports photographers.

What are these words of fatherly advice? "Don't look goofy."

Last spring Greg moved from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts. Rob represented Troop 71 at the ceremony and we took a few pictures as long as we all had our uniforms on.

I'm a member of the Troop Committee for Troop 71, so I get a uniform too.

In July, Rob and Greg attended scout camp. When I arrived on Friday morning, the scouts had been there since Sunday. Greg had worn this same shirt since -- you guessed it! -- Sunday. L to R: Lee, Greg, JJ, and Derrick.

This tent was Greg's and JJ's. I don't think they're in the picture. If you see them, let me know.

In July we visited Tennessee for the Fox Reunion. The people here who aren't us are my brother, his wife, and their son. L to R: Rob, Cindy, Phil, Greg, Mike, Roland, Connie.

Greg pours ice on his head at Fox Reunion. Isn't it a blast that tie-die is back?

We left Tennessee and drove directly to Sandbridge Beach, on the Virginia coast. We spent about a week with Cindy's family. Pictured here are the boys, Cindy, and her dad.

The ocean was very popular.

One day, we buried Rob in the sand. L to R: Ken, Dana, Greg, Rob, Cricket, me, and Cindy.

Rob's severed head lies in the sand.

In August, we spent a few days in Washington, visiting with Jim Granath, the Smoots, Cal Ripken, and Abe Lincoln.

"Greg, an inch or so to your left ... " The exposure leaves a little to be desired on this one.

Rob, Greg and a strange girl at the Athens county fair. Alright, maybe she isn't strange, but we don't know her so we can't say for sure. Yeah, we're cool.

Greg's official fall soccer portrait. This team, the "Cycle Paths," won 2 and tied 4. Next year, Greg will be playing for the official Athens Middle School team.

Rob in the Athens Green and Gold at the Middle School wrestling meet.

Rob wrestles with a teammate during a between rounds break at the meet. If I were a good photographer with good equipment I'd have a good picture of a match in progress.

We offer two family portraits, take your pick. We'll always be Wolverines, but Ohio University is a wonderful place and Athens is more and more established as home.
