2007 - The Year in Pictures

This page is mostly about the pictures, but you might want to read Phil's year-end letter or Cindy's.  Be sure to come back later, though, there'll likely be more pics.

We wish you a healthy and prosperous year for 2008!

In prior years, I uploaded pictures to this site.  Although it generally worked okay, it was a fairly labor intensive and inflexible operation.  This time, I'm posting on Picasa, the Google picture site.  One factor motivating this change is that Picasa should provide better support for people with dialup connections.  People with high-speed connections will find more options, too.

 Austria Pictures - late May

These were taken in and around Salzburg in late May, when we visited Rob there. You don't have to comb the Internet very hard to find great pictures of Salzburg.  These are intended to commemorate our visit - providing a travelogue is only secondary.

 Germany Pictures - late May

We traveled to Austria by way of Frankfurt so we could spend some time with Bill Kohler.  These were taken in several German cities: Frankfurt, Köln, Limburg, München.  This set includes the pictures we took during the day trip we took with Rob from Salzburg to München

 Commencement Pictures - June 9, '07

Actually, none of these are actually from Commencement.  This was the first university commencement I've ever attended as an observer.  It's a lot more rewarding to sit on the floor with the students and faculty.  Sitting with the audience was like being at a sporting event: rude neighbors, people talking, jackasses yelling during the quiet moments.  On the floor, it's more like being in church or at a wedding, there's a sense of occasion.

 Colorado Pictures - late June

For several years I'd wanted to take a stereotypical family driving vacation out west.  With Rob graduating this year and Greg graduating in '08, it sure looked like now or never.  Because of time constraints and the presence of friends to visit, we focused on Colorado. Jim/Kay and Gisela/Judy were great hosts and the state of Colorado provided prime scenery and camping opportunities.  If you have the bandwidth, this album - Thumbs Up! - is best viewed as a slideshow with a fairly short change interval.

 Sandbridge Pictures - late August

This is, I believe, our eleventh visit to Sandbridge Beach with Cindy's family.  We've stayed in ten different rental cottages.  It's a wonderful tradition.
