| Merry Christmas and Happy New
Year! Yes, we're running a little late this year, but the sentiments
are sincere. Here's the news. Journalists seem to look for themes in
their year-end articles, but I can't really discern one. The nest – address above – is now officially empty. The fledglings haven't flown too far, but are gone. Both live with their buddies in student ghetto dumps, although Rob's is considerably better than Greg's. Aside from the fact that I gotta take the trash out myself, we're doing okay. Fortunately, there hasn't been much snow. Rob is headed for Austria in Spring Quarter – to the OU program in Salzburg. He's applying for a teaching scholarship there for all of the 07-08 academic year. In the meanwhile, he's working as a gofer for the math dept. and an usher at Memorial Auditorium. In June, he returns from Salzburg to OU commencement. Wow. Greg is also working two jobs – he's a student manager at University Catering and working on the Visual Communication School's annual student portfolio. He'll be taking the commencement stroll in '08. We did the usual amount of travel. We had a nice half-week at Sandbridge, terminated by Hurricane Ernesto. Were we wimpy or prudent? Maybe both. We visited Yorktown on that trip, checking out the ground where the Revolution was won. The Stony Brook Memorial Baseball tour went to Toronto. Aside from the Jays' good success against the Yankees, the highlight of the visit was the Hockey Hall of Fame. I got to touch the actual honest-to-goodness Stanley Cup. Yes, the coolest trophy in all sports is displayed where you can touch it and have your picture taken with it. Thanksgiving was in Tennessee, including a nice day at Shiloh. I did some for professional reasons: Vegas, LA, Atlanta, Columbus. You know: "What happens in Columbus, doesn't really happen anywhere." Christmas was great. As usual, we visited Cindy's folks in Rochester. I had a chance to drive around my HS alma mater, Cass Tech. There are a bunch of pics on the web site. As usual, 'The Year in Pictures' web page is at www.CivilizationAsWeKnowIt.com. We hope that 2007 will bring you good health and happiness! Try to come see us during our second decade in beautiful southeastern Ohio. Phil |
