2004 - The Year in Pictures

This page is mostly about the pictures, but you might want to read Phil's year-end letter or Cindy's.  Be sure to come back later, though, there'll be more pics here.  If you want to look at more pictures, have a look at 2003.

Pictures from my fall in Atlanta are on a different page.

We wish you a healthy and prosperous year for 2005!

We sure had a White Christmas.  We got 7 or 8 inches overnight on the 22nd, after which it turned cold.  Here's the snow on Bill's bridge.

Christmas Day itself and the days immediately following were cold and bright.

Sunset over the pond.

Overnight on the 25th brought a very heavy frost.  Southerners among you may feel that this looks like an ice storm, but it was just a very heavy duty frost.

Here's the group on Christmas morning.  Now that the kids are grown, we don't have the mad unwrapping scene and can calmly enjoy the fellowship within the family.  I miss my little boys, but enjoy the adult camaraderie.

Yes, it's January 7 and we're still working on our Christmas cards.  It's my fault.  Cindy bears no responsibility here.

This is a picture taken with Greg's new camera.  Not much artistic value, but the patterns in the boiling water are nice.

Here are Ken, Bill, and Greg
at Windsor Castle.

This is the first of several pics of the patio project.  Greg broke up the sidewalk that had been in place from time immemorial.

At this point, we're about ready to begin laying pavers.  Two inches of sand first, though, carefully leveled.

We weren't about to wait until the job was done to begin enjoying the fruits of our labor.  Greg did more than his fair share of the work, much more.  It wouldn't have been finished if he hadn't worked so long, so hard.

Greg is running the vibrating machine that settles the pavers and shakes sand down between them.  It's astonishing how much sand will fit between those babies.

Here's the dump truck loaded to cart off the sod and clay 'soil' that was removed to make way for the patio.

Pretty much finished.  There are still a few trim items, like half pavers under the window sills.
